Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - March 11, 2020

March 9, 2020

The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District continues to monitor the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and follow guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Education and New York State Department of Health in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control. The district will continue to provide relevant updates as necessary.

As a district, Pal-Mac has protocols and measures in place including:

  • The District Emergency Preparedness Plan is up-to-date and includes protocols for pandemic situations should one arise
  • The District has a collaborative relationship with Wayne County Public Health. WCPH and the NYS Department of Health are the authorizing agencies for school health and decisions related to health matters such as COVID-19
  • The District has implemented non-pharmaceutical interventions including Personal Protective Measures

Some simple reminders to help reduce the spread of virus-related illnesses include:

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth by keeping hands away from face
  • Stay home when sick
  • Use a tissue one time and throw it in the trash. Wash hands or use hand sanitizer immediately following
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use good cough or sneeze etiquette by coughing or sneezing into the crook of the arm or into a tissue which is then disposed of immediately; wash hands
