Superintendent To Recommend New Principal for Pal-Mac Primary School

The process for candidate selection to fill the position of Pal-Mac Primary School Principal included the formation of a candidate profile using ThoughtExchange, the posting of the position, an application process, the screening of the applicants, and interviews conducted by over 50 staff members and parents. The process concluded with the identification of a finalist who completed a performance task with the superintendent in anticipation of a recommendation to the Board of Education.

 

At the May 5, 2020 meeting of the Board of Education, Mrs. Jamie Murphy will be recommended for appointment as the next Principal of Palmyra-Macedon Primary School.

 

A Wayne-Finger Lakes native and 1999 graduate of Midlakes High School, Mrs. Murphy first served at Pal-Mac as a student teacher with Ms. Tilson, and has taught multiage and grades 2, 3, and 5 since being hired in 2004. Mrs. Murphy recently completed her leadership studies through the prestigious Wayne-Finger Lakes Leadership Institute and the State University of New York College at Oswego.

 

When asked about the position, Mrs. Murphy eagerly shared, “I am extremely honored and grateful to continue my journey serving the students, staff, families and community of Pal-Mac Primary School.” 

 

According to teachers, support staff, and parents who served on the interview team: “Jamie is a strong and dedicated member of our Primary School Community.” “She shows her passion for our children and our community.” One staff member noted, “There is a circle of positivity wherever she goes.” Another shared, “Mrs. Murphy has empathy and compassion for all and is knowledgeable of Pal-Mac Primary’s vision and philosophy showing it every day as she interacts with students, families, and staff.” One staff member summed it up and emphasized, “Jamie IS Pal-Mac Primary!!!!” Mrs. Murphy has overwhelming support from the school staff. 

 

Mrs. Murphy and her husband, Matt, are the parents of Grace (14) and Alexis (11).

 

She will begin her role as principal on July 1, 2020.
