All district schools closed effective Monday, March 16, 2020

At the direction of the Wayne County Department of Health and in alignment with the county declaring a State of Emergency, Wayne County School Districts, including the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District, have unanimously decided to close all schools for students and cancel all extra-curricular activities.

Pal-Mac will be closed for students effective Monday, March 16, 2020. This is being done as a mitigating and precautionary measure for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

During the time of the school closure, all students and families are encouraged to practice social distancing.

It is important to note that we are not aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 related to anyone associated with the District at this time.

Schools are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Before this occurs, the District will re-evaluate our COVID-19 response, under the guidance of the Wayne County Department of Health.

During the closure, we will continue to take direction from local health department officials. We also encourage families to continue taking steps to minimize the spread of all respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19.

In the coming days, the district will provide additional information to families about learning resources, food services and community support agencies.

If you have health-related questions or concerns, please call the New York State coronavirus hotline at 1-888-364-3065. For the most up to date and accurate information, please visit https://health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/coronavirus/.

We will provide further updates as appropriate, using the tools we utilize for weather-related closures. You may also visit our website for more information.

It is times like these when our Pal-Mac pride is vital. We must remain positive as a school community to ensure the well-being of our children. No matter their age and to show strength as a community, let’s tuck our children in tonight with an extra dose of love.

Thank you.

Bob Ike

Superintendent
