JAN.30— Palmyra-Macedon Primary School Kindergarten Teacher Shana Dehn was the latest recipient of the "Golden Apple Award."
The award, handed out by WROC-TV (News 8 Rochester), recognizes teachers who go above and beyond for their students.
Co-teacher Caitlyn Cook nominated Dehn for the award because of her efforts to promote a welcoming learning environment for her students.
WROC-TV surprised Dehn with the award on Tuesday. Mrs.Cook, Dehn's husband, Principal Jamie Murphy, and Superintendent Dr.Bob Ike all joined the news crew as they presented Dehn with a special plaque.
“Teaching is the only thing I have ever wanted to do since Kindergarten," Dehn said. "I’ve had some amazing teachers, and they just inspired me to continue to do that and have this be a part of my dream."
Dehn joins other recent award recipients from Pal-Mac including Mrs.Kimberly Day, Mrs.Kayla Osika, and Mrs. Christy Alexander.
Congrats to Mrs.Dehn on this honor!
