APRIL 22, 2024— Mrs. Sousa's Middle School students once again made the days for several local veterans!
On Sunday, April 21, 25 students welcomed a group of veterans at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport with smiles, signs, and flags.
The vets were returning home from a trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the Honor Flight program. Each veteran received a specially addressed letter from the students before landing. The letters thanked them for their service, and shared other messages.
The students then got a chance to meet the group personally, which included some conversations and pictures!
Sousa's classes traditionally welcome the Honor Flight veterans in the Fall and decided to welcome this most recent group, too.
Sousa says it was a memorable experience, not only for our national heroes but also for the students!
