SEP.6, 2024— "Let's play!" is what groups of Intermediate School students said Wednesday before they ran to try out their brand-new playground.
The school hosted several ribbon-cutting ceremonies to mark the special moment.
The playground features new swings, climbing equipment, and of course, new slides! The new equipment was part of phase one of ongoing improvements in the playground area. Many elements of the playground were over 30 years old and are being replaced to reinforce safe play experiences!
To make the project even more special, students had a choice in deciding what was included. The school sent a survey to families for kids in grades 3-5 to share what they would want in a playground. The top answers were swinging, sliding, and climbing.
Students also voted on the colors they wanted for the playground.
The work is a part of the 2023-2024 Capital Outlay Project, which was included in the 2023-2024 budget.
