MAY 15, 2026— Two Palmyra-Macedon Central School District educators have been recognized for their significant impact on students and the school community as recipients of the New York State Senate’s “Educators Inspiring a Generation” award.

Mrs. Carrie Linder, a teacher at Pal-Mac Intermediate School, and Mrs. Lora Mahnke, a special educator at Pal-Mac High School, were recently presented with the honor, which celebrates school professionals who go above and beyond in their commitment to student success and innovative teaching. 

Both Linder and Mahnke described receiving the distinction as a "great honor."  

Pal-Mac Superintendent Dr. Bob Ike nominated both educators and said their contributions represent the very best of the profession. 

"New York State is fortunate to have many exceptional educators, but those who truly inspire a generation distinguish themselves through their impact beyond their own classroom," Dr. Ike said.” 

Of Mrs. Linder, Dr. Ike wrote 

“Mrs. Linder was specifically recognized for her leadership in implementing a world cultures program at the elementary level, which focuses on inquiry-based learning and global mindedness. She creates a learning environment that is both academically rigorous and deeply supportive, ensuring that each student feels known, valued, and capable of success. Her ability to build strong relationships with students allows her to personalize learning in meaningful ways, resulting in both strong academic outcomes and confident, self-directed learners.”

For Mrs. Mahnke, Dr. Ike said in part

“She was instrumental in developing a sustainable mindfulness program that has improved student well-being and reduced stress for both staff and children. Now a high school special educator, she continues to design individualized experiences for students with significant cognitive challenges.Her work continues to model excellence, innovation, and unwavering commitment to students."

The program allows Senators to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of school professionals who foster positive school cultures and serve as lights for their colleagues.

Both Linder and Mahnke represent the District’s commitment to excellence and helping our students learn, grow, and contribute.
