AUG.4, 2025—Dozens of Pal-Mac students spent part of their summer exploring innovation, technology, and career pathways at the recently completed TechRise: Tech & Career Summer Academy.

The free program, offered for students in grades 6-12, provided real-world experiences designed to spark career interests, build technical skills, and strengthen student confidence in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). Students participated in coding workshops, micro-credentialing opportunities, field trips, sustainability challenges, and hands-on hackathons.

Held at the high school, the academy ran in two, two-week sessions: July 7-17 and July 21-31, with classes meeting Monday through Thursday. Free breakfast and bus transportation were provided. Students were able to enroll in one or both sessions.

The academy also partnered with the district’s Primary School S.T.E.M. Camp for a collaborative learning event. On the final day of the Primary School’s three-day camp, the youngest learners worked side by side with TechRise participants at a series of interactive learning stations.

Students explored robotics, flight, and engineering by building balloon-powered cars, designing and launching straw rockets, and experimenting with TechRise robots. The day concluded with rocket launches, car races, and a snack celebration.

The Primary School S.T.E.M. Camp was taught by Mrs. Camp, Mrs. Donoghue, and Ms. Marr, while TechRise was led by Ms. Mahoney, Mrs. Fedor, and Mrs. Anthony.

The program provided students across grade levels with valuable hands-on experiences to explore science, technology, engineering and math in a fun and engaging environment.
