Wayne County celebrated its 200th birthday on April 11th, 2023, and Pal-Mac students took part in several celebrations! Click on this article to check out our rundown of the action across all of our schools.

 

 

APRIL 12, 2023— Pal-Mac schools recently took part in a celebration 200 years in the making.

Students across all four buildings celebrated Wayne County's Bicentennial, which happened on April 11. The main celebration happened in Lyons, which is the county's seat.

As part of the celebration, some students either attended a ceremony, or even created some fun activities!

You'll find a breakdown of celebrations by building below.

 

HIGH SCHOOL

Choir dressed in all black is directed by director Adam Chandler, who is also dressed in all black.

The Pal-Mac High School's Select Choir performed a two-song set during a luncheon at the Lyons Community Center (LCC).  The luncheon featured several community members and local and state leaders. The choir was under the direction of Adam Chandler.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

A group of leadership students joined Principal Darcy Smith and Superintendent Bob Ike at a special ceremony out in front of the Wayne County Courthouse in Lyons. The group listened to several speakers and witnessed the unveiling of a new historical plaque.

Additionally, the Sixth Grade Band performed a two-song set during the previously mentioned luncheon at the LCC. The band was under the direction of Kathy Haynes. Both the band and the choir were two of just five area school ensemble to perform during the celebrations.

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Intermediate School class poses together in the school's library

Students in the History Bowl Club hosted a Bicentennial Trivia Night! The club spent weeks designing and building their own Wayne County-themed games. This includes both Macedon and Palmyra spins on Monopoly, as well as a few e-games!  More pictures can be found on our Facebook page.

 

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Primary School students put together a history-themed picture book titled: "The ABC's of Wayne County." Each class was assigned a letter of the alphabet, and then students had to connect the letter back to Palmyra or Macedon!
