MAY 12, 2025— Here we go again! The cast and crew of the High School’s Spring Musical “Mamma Mia!” earned multiple individual and group awards at the annual Rochester Broadway Theatre League (RBTL) "Stars of Tomorrow" awards.

The awards are tied into the RBTL's program of the same name, which Pal-Mac participates in yearly, and recognize the best of the best high school theater performances in the area.

This year's production received awards across seven categories, including multiple students selected for Achievement in Performance. The program as a whole received awards for Excellence in Overall Production, Production Design, Production Crew, Dance Ensemble, and Acting Ensemble.

“It's so great that I'm just so happy for the musical itself to win so many awards,” Maddie Sullivan, who played Donna, said. “It's always nice to get an award for my achievement in acting. But I'm just so excited for the whole production as a whole to get so many awards.”

Among the awards was the annual Fan Favorite Award, which will ultimately send its top vote getter to represent Rochester at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as The Jimmy Awards. The awards are held annually in New York City.

Both Havana Sullivan, who played Rosie, and Ryan Fink, who played Sam, were named to the nominee list. The list includes 40 of the top actors and actresses as determined by the RBTL. This marks Finks second time in the running.

“I think that I did a pretty good job acting, but I wasn't expecting the nomination,” Fink said. “So now that I do have it, I'm very excited, but I'm also very focused on the plans ahead.”

“It was, honestly, the best feeling in the world.” Havana Sullivan said. “It's always something I've dreamed of doing since I was a freshman when I went for the first time. So it was honestly kind of an out-of-this-world experience, and I'm so super excited to be a part of it.”

Voting for the award runs through Wednesday, May 21. You can cast your vote by clicking here.

In addition to the awards, the assembled cast performed a few numbers from the show. Both Maddie and Havana Sullivan said the opportunity to hop back into the role was challenging but rewarding. Maddie added that it felt good to put back on her “Donna and the Dynamos” costume, which was handmade by their mother.

“Being that person again, you kind of left behind, and then you brought it back, it felt really cool,” Maddie said.

Fellow “Dynamo” Ava Ribstein, who played Tanya, echoed the same sentiment.

"It was fun as I was doing my makeup for the night,” Ribstein said.  “I actually was like okay, it's my second-to-last time is Tanya, and it kind of made me a little sad. But we still have our [Elenbe Awards], so I'm very excited for that award ceremony as well.”

As Ribstein mentioned, the cast and crew will be up for another round of awards at the annual Elenbe Awards, which will be held on Tuesday, May 27.
