APRIL 3, 2025— The Pal-Mac School District was named one of Rochester’s Top Workplaces by the Democrat and Chronicle and USA Today on Wednesday night.
The District was recognized during an awards ceremony at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
It ranked fourth among large companies in the region, one of 57 total companies honored. The award is based on an annual employee survey which evaluates categories such as employee engagement and job satisfaction.
An employee wrote: "I feel truly welcomed, valued, and appreciated, knowing that my work contributes to the greater good of our community. I love coming to work every day and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this community, which has provided so much for both me and my family."
This marks the fifth time Pal-Mac has received the honor since 2015.
Superintendent Dr. Bob Ike was also recognized with the Leadership Award in the large company category. The award was kept secret until the ceremony, which Ike acknowledged in his remarks.
His full statement follows:
“When I first heard about this honor, my initial thought was, ‘This isn’t about me.’ And the truth is, it’s not. This award is a reflection of the incredible people who make up the District. Our faculty, staff and administrators are the heartbeat of everything we do.
They are the ones who show up every day, not just to teach, but to inspire. Not just to support, but to uplift. Not just to lead, but to serve.
I’ve had the privilege of being superintendent for nearly two decades, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that leadership isn’t about one person.
It’s about the people you surround yourself with. And I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a team that is passionate, dedicated and always willing to go the extra mile for our students and our community.
So while my name may be on this award, I share it with all of you. Thank you for your hard work, your belief in our mission and, most of all, for making Pal-Mac a place where people love to work, grow and make a difference. This recognition belongs to all of us. Thank you.”
Ike was joined at the ceremony by Board of Education members Laura Arrington and Sarah Newman, Deputy Superintendent Ralph Brongo, High School Principal Andy Wahl, teacher Caryn Parsons and Administrative Assistant Dorothy Veit.
