MARCH 10, 2025—A Pal-Mac High School junior recently received special recognition from a local lawmaker, and her counselor.

Jenna Lindstrom Friday was honored with the 2025 Youth Leadership Recognition Award during a ceremony in Victor. The award, which is coordinated by New York State Senator Pamela Helming, recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and achievement in academics, athletics, music, arts, and/or community service. She was among just over 20 other students from across the entire region who received the award.

Jenna's counselor Ms. Maureen Harris nominated her for the award. In a statement, Ms.Harris said it was an honor to select Jenna and added:

"Jenna has selected to take challenging and diverse courses throughout her high school experience to explore various subject areas as she continues to develop her future plans.  Jenna aspires to follow in her family members’ footsteps and join the United States Air Force after high school graduation.  Jenna also aspires to continue with her education and become a physician’s assistant. Jenna is involved in various extracurriculars, including Peer-to-Peer Mentoring, class secretary and is a three-sport athlete.  Jenna has over 500 hours of community service, volunteering her time working at a summer camp for children, coaching youth lacrosse, volunteering at the Palmyra Community Center, participates in various athletic community service events and is looking forward to joining her family with volunteering with the American Legion.  Through my interactions with Jenna, she has always been inquisitive, respectful and motivated to do her best throughout her academic career.  Jenna is truly a leader in our school community."

Superintendent Dr. Bob Ike, along with Jenna's parents, attended Friday's ceremony.
