FEB.21, 2025—The District recently received a set of live-saving equipment focused on safety and education.

The American Heart Association(AHA) & Rochester Regional Health presented the District with a CPR training kit at halftime of the Boys Varsity Basketball game on Feb.18.

The kit contains several manikins, face masks, and other instructional and safety materials.  The kits allow students to learn the lifesaving skills of CPR in just one class period. Plus, it teaches automated external defibrillator (AED) use and choking relief. Each kit can train hundreds of people.

Among those in attendance for the kit presentation were Board of Education (BOE) members Dave Landon, Amy Bosel, Chris Doyle, Sherry Lambert, and Chad Lindstrom. They were joined by District Nurse Deborah Matzan and Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach Joe Hill.

“These will help our community,  students, and staff learn CPR,” Landon said. “Hopefully we never have to use them, but if we do, they could save a life.”

Heart-related emergencies remain the leading cause of death among Americans. Research shows that bystander CPR can triple a person’s chances of survival in a cardiac emergency.

The kits were awarded as a part of Pal-Mac’s participation in the “Kids Heart Challenge” programs. The program promotes well-being, and helps students improve their own health and better their character while raising life-saving donations.

Pal-Mac joined several other Wayne County school districts in receiving the kits.
