NOV. 26, 2024— With just a few days before Thanksgiving, the Pal-Mac community is giving back to local families in need. And they're doing so with a record-high donation of food and other goods.
The annual Fill-A-Bus campaign wrapped up Tuesday morning, and thanks to the generosity and hard work of our students, staff, and community, Pal-Mac collected a total of 4,857 items for our local food pantries.
As mentioned, this was the District's best year to date!
The campaign, organized by the High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) ran from the end of October through this Tuesday. Donation drive boxes were set up at all four school buildings, as well as several local businesses. People could donate canned goods, non-perishable food, and toiletries.
Here’s how the schools contributed:
- High School: 1,235 items
- Middle School: 961 items
- Intermediate School: 1,758 items
- Primary School: 903 items
FBLA advisor Joe Hill says this year's total surpasses the previous record by 766 items!
"Your dedication and collaboration have made a meaningful difference for families in need," Hill said. "And I couldn’t be more proud of this community effort."
The donated items were dropped off at both the Macedon Food Pantry at St. Patrick's Church and the Pal-Mac Food Pantry at the Zion Episcopal Church in Palmyra. Additionally, other items were dropped off at smaller free food stands in the community.
