APRIL 6, 2026—A 2023 Pal-Mac graduate was recently honored for making history at her university!

Mercyhurst University (Erie, PA) announced Kailey Tyler has been named a 2026 Barry Goldwater Scholar, which is one of the nation’s most prestigious undergraduate awards in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.

Kailey currently studies Applied Forensics Science, and the university said she's the first student in its history to be named a Goldwater scholar.

“This recognition reinforces my passion for research and motivates me to continue pursuing opportunities that will allow me to contribute to the scientific community," Kailey said to the university.

She was among approximately 450 students selected nationwide from more than 5,000 applicants.

At Pal-Mac, Kailey received several award scholarships at the 2023 Palmyra-Macedon Dollars for Scholars (DFS) Awards Ceremony, including the Get-It-Straight Orthodontics Scholarship, and the Barbara Collins-Severcool Memorial Scholarship.

As part of the Goldwater program, she will receive up to $7,500 per year to support her continued studies.
