FEB.10, 2025— Pal-Mac Varsity Boys Swim team member George Newsome is once again a Section V Champion! Newsome clinched the title in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:46.86. He competed at the Section V Championships on Friday, Feb.7.

Newsome previously won a title in the same event in 2024.

The title adds to what's already been another successful year for the swimmer, as he also previously qualified for the New York State Tournament in both the 200 Freestyle (breaking his own school record with a time of 1:46.48) and the 500 Freestyle. 

He's also set several otherpool records this season, includings at the Jim Dewitt invitational meet in Newark last month.

Last year, Newsome became the first Pal-Mac swimmer in 16 years to clinch a spot in states.

The state tournament begins Friday, March 7 at Ithaca College.
