DEC.19, 2024— In the Fall of 1958, Macedon Elementary started the school year with “approximately 100 pupils more than it can adequately accommodate for a good educational program.” (Palmyra-Courier Journal, September 11,1958).
On Sept. 15, 1958 by a vote of 317-118, Palmyra-Macedon voters approved the addition to the Macedon Elementary school for $785,000.
The addition included 15 new classrooms, a cafeteria, kitchen, a library, a health suite, administration offices, and a playroom for the primary grades. The addition opened in 1960.
We now know this building as the Palmyra-Macedon Intermediate School!
