Several Pal-Mac athletes compete in Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged

Student athletes stand in the gym at SUNY Brockport

OCT.14, 2022— Chilly conditions couldn't keep a team of Pal-Mac student athletes from competing in the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged on Friday.

The games took place on the campus at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport.  Athletes competed in games including Archery, Track & Field, Power Wheelchair, Swimming, Obstacle Courses and other recreational activities.

Student athletes that qualify for these games have a physical disability, but not always a cognitive challenge, and that is what makes the event different from the Special Olympics. It is a FUN event that generates a lot of smiles. Pal-Mac has taken part in the games every year since 2001.

The athletes were cheered on by their classmates as they left the District in the morning.

Congrats to everyone who competed!
