AUG.3, 2022—The Palmyra-Macedon Primary School is now officially recognized as a "Good Deed Award" school, following a ceremony held at the school Tuesday night.

The award, along with a special banner, was presented to Principal Jamie Murphy by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 120, which is based in Palmyra. Several students and their families were in attendance.

PMP students previously received the award in June because of their efforts to lead a parade past the post on Cuyler Street in Palmyra on Veterans Day 2021.

The award is recognized nationally by the American Legion and is given out throughout the year to recognize the heroism and helpfulness of people under the age of 18.

"This is such a special award," Murphy said. "The students learned so much about their community, respecting their veterans, and how a simple act of kindness could have such a big impact on someone."

The banner presented Tuesday will now be on display at the school.

Students talk with a group of elders from the American Legion.
