Pal-Mac girls lacrosse team secures fifth-straight Sectional title

Da team

JUNE 2, 2022— It's not a stretch to say the Palmyra-Macedon Lady Red Raiders lacrosse team is no stranger to Sectional titles. In fact, to say they're pretty familiar with holding up the trophy at the end of the game would be quite accurate.

We're not talking one or two titles, not even three. Try five.

Yes, the Red Raiders girls lacrosse team has now won five consecutive Section V Class D titles following their 9-8 victory over the Aquinas Institute on Wednesday night in East Rochester.

The Raiders saw goals scored by five different players, including late goals by Jenna Santelli (2 goals /1 assist) and Molly Seither (2 goals).  Goalie Faith Beals made four saves, including a crucial blocked shot with roughly 10 seconds left in regulation.  Reagan Diehl (3 goals /1assist) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Pal-Mac's victory marked the third Sectional title for the athletics program in less than 24 hours, as the baseball and boys lacrosse teams each won championships on Tuesday.

Much like the boys the day before, the girls team was welcomed back in town with a parade headed by local first responders and parents!

Next up for the Lady Red Raiders will be regionals, which are set for Saturday at Pittsford Sutherland High School.
