MAY 17, 2022— A local organization that supplies goods to families in need just got a boost from students at the Pal-Mac Middle School. Through their "Jar Wars" fundraising campaign, students in grades 6-8 were able to raise $53.21 in loose change, all of which will go to benefit "Community Connections."
As we've shared with you, the Jar Wars campaign was a weeks-long drive in which all three grades competed during their lunch periods to see who could score the most points by bringing in the most change. Dollar bills were accepted, but they resulted in negative points for a team.
Organizer and teacher Carrie Klueber said the seventh grade students won the competition.
Klueber said:
"I am glad that the kids had fun competing against one another with the ultimate goal of giving towards others!!!"
Community Connections organizer Mary Brooks said:
"We are a part of an amazing community. We are grateful for all of the connections we have made because of our little not for profit. We are happy that groups have not forgotten about us as they fundraise. This spring we were able to serve over 70 families with 132 pairs of sneakers. Every penny counts. Thank you!!"
