Throughout the 2020-21 school year, the social and emotional well-being of students at Pal-Mac has been an area which the district has been closely monitoring. As caregivers (parents/guardians), your insight about your children is vital. 

Palmyra 5th Grader Makes a Difference in Community Wood and McGinnis

With the help of his parents, Pal-Mac fifth grader, Nate Woods, came up with a creative and tasty way to benefit the Palmyra Community Center (PCC.) With frigid weather on his side, Nate handmade 108 molded “Hot Chocolate Bombs” and sold them to his neighbors and friends as a fundraiser. Prior to the start of his weekly PCC Youth Lacrosse League practice, Nate (who plays goalie) presented PCC Assistant Director, Jim McGinnis, with a check for $540.

A literal transformation: PMMS Media Center undergoing renovations to enhance student experience

Big changes are coming to the Palmyra-Macedon Middle School media center as the facility is undergoing a complete renovation, which will transform it into a cutting-edge learning hub.

The areas surrounding the Performing Arts Center at Palmyra-Macedon High School are in the midst of a massive overhaul. The work will enhance the functionality of the facility and surrounding areas while creating a more inviting space to enjoy performances and events for students and community members.

Free meal program continues, remote learners eligible

In a continued effort to assist families during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the free meal program implemented by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been extended through June 2021.

Note from the superintendent: Back to school 2020-21

Once upon a time, on the evening of Sunday, March 13, 2020, the reality of the State’s health emergency hit close to home. Ken Miller, Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors and Supervisor for the Town of Palmyra, declared a state of emergency for Wayne County. Subsequently, the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District announced a district-wide closure of all schools. And . . . once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She entered the scene at Pal-Mac.

Health Screening Required Daily For Students and Staff health screen checklist

Each day, all students and staff are required to complete a health screening prior to entering district buildings as mandated by the New York State Department of Health. The screening will be completed daily through the ParentSquare app.

Face Coverings Required at Pal-Mac, Face Covering Breaks To Be Provided mask picture

All students, staff, and pre-approved visitors must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect against the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Acceptable face coverings include but are not limited to cloth based face coverings (e.g., homemade sewn, quick cut, bandana), and surgical masks that cover both the mouth and nose.

During the 2020-21 school year, ensuring contact information on file with the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District is key. The district will utilize its messaging systems to relay important announcements regarding COVID-19 along with other relevant updates.

2020-21 School Calendar Available

As the 2020-21 Palmyra-Macedon Central School District academic year begins, the district would like to make the Pal-Mac community aware of important dates for the new school year. Due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID 19, the following dates are subject to change.

Keep alert for signs of illness, stay home when sick

As the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District continues in-person instruction, it is critically important that parents and guardians play an active role in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. Of paramount importance is observing signs of illness, and keeping your child home should symptoms of illness be exhibited. 

COVID-19 Reopening Plan now available

In accordance with guidelines established by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District has formulated a school reopening plan for submission to DOH, New York State Education Department (NYSED) and publication to the Pal-Mac community. The plan prioritizes in-person instruction as per NYS guidelines and offers two levels of programming: a full return to school (Level 1) or remote learning (Level 2).

Citizenship extends beyond the halls of Pal-Mac, digital citizenship is a must

As our country continues to be impacted by COVID-19, more interactions than ever are occurring digitally including among students throughout Palmyra-Macedon Central School District. 

PAC closed for renovations

Effective immediately, the Performing Arts Center will be closed for renovations and will not be available for any events. Alternative spaces in the high school such as the gym and lower cafeteria can be suitable substitutions for events.

2020-21 School Calendar Now Available

On Tuesday, February 4, the Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2020-21 school year.
