Meet the Principal
Dr. Darcy N. Smith, Ed. D.
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at Palmyra-Macedon Middle School. In my twenty-fourth year as middle school principal, it is my privilege to continue to serve students from the Palmyra and Macedon communities. PMMS faculty and staff are preparing to open our doors for in person instruction for all students this fall. Our faculty and staff are devoted to providing world-class experiences for students in a manner that continues to adhere to health and safety requirements at the time of opening in September. I could not be more proud of our staff as well as the academic and character education programs at PMMS and the manner in which these continued through the previous school year. Last year we continued to place an emphasis on relationships first as we will in the new year, too.
PMMS continues to be recognized as a New York State School of Character, a National School of Character, a Franklin-Covey Lighthouse School of Academic Distinction, and an IB MYP School. There are no other middle-level programs to the west or east of us that hold this group of distinctions. These areas of focus position our faculty to nurture students’ minds as well as their hearts. Faculty and staff - in classrooms, on athletic fields, and in extracurricular programs - support students to have a voice at PMMS school.
I look forward to working with you and your child this school year.
