What classes will my child take in 6th grade? 7th grade? 8th grade?

Students will take courses in Math, Individuals & Societies, Science and Language & Literature for every year they are in the middle school.  Starting in 6th grade, students are required to take a language other than English, and may choose between either Spanish and French.

In 6th and 7th grades, all students will take Technology and Art for 10 weeks, and Health FACtS for 20 weeks.  In 8th grade, they will take 20 weeks of Technology, and 10 weeks of Art and Health FACtS.  All students must take 20 weeks of General Music in 6th grade, but if they opt to take Band and/or Chorus in 7th or 8th grade, they won’t be required to continue General Music.  All students take P.E. for every year they are in the middle school.

Students may be required to take a lab class in Literacy and/or Math in order to improve their understanding of that subject. If any periods are free in the day, students will have a study hall to complete homework and work with available teachers. All students will have a 30-minute lunch period.
