Pal-Mac monitoring social media trend

The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District is aware of a social media trend circulating throughout the country which threatens violence in schools.

At this time, there have been NO threatening messages directed toward the district. Pal-Mac will continue monitoring the situation and working closely with law enforcement.

Director of School Safety John Colella said, “The district is aware of a social media post that is being recycled and reposted across the country that is threatening in nature towards non-specific school facilities. We are in constant contact with our Federal, State and local law enforcement partners to assess any threat that is posted on social media platforms. We encourage anyone that sees something to say something to law enforcement and/or school officials.”

Should you have information about threatening language or trends relating to schools on social media, please send the information to techhelp@palmaccsd.org. If the information poses an imminent threat, please contact law enforcement immediately.

“I encourage parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of threatening language and the appropriate uses of social media,” stated Superintendent Bob Ike.

Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping schools safe.
