Fall Sports Update

Based on guidance from state and local officials, low risk sports are now able to take place in Section V. At Pal-Mac, this includes Boys/Girls Cross Country, Golf, Boys/Girls Soccer, Girls Swimming, and Girls Tennis. Practice/tryouts for all levels will start on Monday, September 21, 2020.

NYSPHSAA Football, Volleyball, Competitive Cheer (Fall) Seasons moved to March 1, 2021; Traditional Spring Sports Start Date Revised to April 19, 2021 NYSPHSAA Logo

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announced today that football, volleyball and competitive cheer fall seasons will be postponed until March 1, 2021 to address membership concerns associated with high-risk fall sports. The decision was rendered by the elected NYSPHSAA officers late this afternoon. Low and moderate risk fall sports, meanwhile, are still authorized to begin practices on September 21, 2020 as previously announced.

School Meals Temporarily Free of Charge to Students

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced it is extending several federal programs to provide school meals at no charge to students.

Note from the superintendent: Back to school 2020-21

Once upon a time, on the evening of Sunday, March 13, 2020, the reality of the State’s health emergency hit close to home. Ken Miller, Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors and Supervisor for the Town of Palmyra, declared a state of emergency for Wayne County. Subsequently, the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District announced a district-wide closure of all schools. And . . . once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She entered the scene at Pal-Mac.

Health Screening Required Daily For Students and Staff health screen checklist

Each day, all students and staff are required to complete a health screening prior to entering district buildings as mandated by the New York State Department of Health. The screening will be completed daily through the ParentSquare app.

The upcoming school year might look a little different but our goal remains the same, to provide an outstanding education to ALL of our students. Check out this message for in-person instruction. We have signage throughout our buildings as reminders of the guidelines in place, and to assist with social distancing.

School start times will be adjusted during the public health emergency to ensure proper social distancing and safety guidelines can be followed with staggered arrival and departure from all district school sites.

Face Coverings Required at Pal-Mac, Face Covering Breaks To Be Provided mask picture

All students, staff, and pre-approved visitors must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect against the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Acceptable face coverings include but are not limited to cloth based face coverings (e.g., homemade sewn, quick cut, bandana), and surgical masks that cover both the mouth and nose.

During the 2020-21 school year, ensuring contact information on file with the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District is key. The district will utilize its messaging systems to relay important announcements regarding COVID-19 along with other relevant updates.

As the 2020-21 Palmyra-Macedon Central School District academic year begins, the district would like to make the Pal-Mac community aware of important dates for the new school year. Due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID 19, the following dates are subject to change.

Keep alert for signs of illness, stay home when sick

As the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District reopens its schools, it is critically important that parents and guardians play an active role in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. Of paramount importance is observing signs of illness, and keeping your child home should symptoms of illness be exhibited.

During these uncertain times, staying connected is more important than ever. The district is excited to announce the implementation of a new tool called ParentSquare to communicate with district families.

Volunteers Needed for Daily Playground Disinfecting

To ensure Pal-Mac students have opportunities to play and be outdoors, the district is committed to maintaining its playgrounds at both the Primary and Intermediate Schools when school reopens.


Pal-Mac's maintenance staff will perform cleaning of the facilities during the day, but the district is looking for volunteers to do an additional deep clean after the school day ends.

Statement regarding inclusion of Pal-Mac on list of NYS school districts not submitting reopening plan

On Monday, August 10, the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District was notified that it failed to submit a COVID-19 School Reopening Plan.

Governor Cuomo Gives Green Light to School Reopening

COVID-19 Reopening Plan now available

In accordance with guidelines established by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District has formulated a school reopening plan for submission to DOH, New York State Education Department (NYSED) and publication to the Pal-Mac community. The plan prioritizes in-person instruction as per NYS guidelines and offers two levels of programming: a full return to school (Level 1) or remote learning (Level 2).

PAC closed for renovations

Effective immediately, the Performing Arts Center will be closed for renovations and will not be available for any events. Alternative spaces in the high school such as the gym and lower cafeteria can be suitable substitutions for events.

2020-21 School Calendar Now Available

On Tuesday, February 4, the Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2020-21 school year.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District has been recognized with top honors as part of the 17th Annual Utica National School Safety Excellence Program.
