March 26 Update: Pal-Mac offering meals for students during closure

The district continues to provide free meals to students in need during the school closure. Lunch and breakfast (for days on which school would normally have been in session) will be available free of charge to every Pal-Mac student, regardless of whether the student normally qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.

All district schools closed effective Monday, March 16, 2020

At the direction of the Wayne County Department of Health and in alignment with the county declaring a State of Emergency, Wayne County School Districts, including the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District, have unanimously decided to close all schools for students and cancel all extra-curricular activities. 

 

Pal-Mac will be closed for students effective Monday, March 16, 2020. This is being done as a mitigating and precautionary measure for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The health and safety of our school community remains a top priority for the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District. At this time, for matters related to COVID-19 (coronavirus), our school district is operating under the direction of Wayne County Public Health. 

Resource: Mindfulness Techniques

The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District places a strong focus on mindfulness throughout its schools.  At a time when many may be experiencing angst and concern as a result of COVID-19 (coronavirus), it provides a great time to implement mindfulness techniques which many students, especially those at the primary school, use daily.

Note from the superintendent: Social media post regarding COVID-19

I am aware of a post circulating on social media in which a Pal-Mac family indicates that they are experiencing symptoms that they worry are caused by COVID-19.

 

As a precaution, I personally contacted the WCPH director and have confirmed that as of 4:40 p.m., Thursday, March 12, there are no known confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pal-Mac.

March 12 Coronavirus Update - Letter from the Superintendent

It is very important to note that, as of 3:00 p.m. on March 12, 2020, the district has not been made aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 related to anyone associated with Wayne County or the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District.

The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District continues to monitor the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and follow guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Education and New York State Department of Health in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control. The visitor management system, which is aimed at enhancing building safety and more effectively tracking building visitors, has been in place for several years.
