Healthy Eating Habits

The L.E.A.D. team asks that classroom snack be a healthful time.

We are hoping that, for the most part, parents will provide snack time foods that are not full of sugar and fat.  The purpose of snack time in school is to keep the body fueled so that the child can work throughout the day to his/her ability.  By providing healthy choices, we can continue to teach and reinforce the importance of making healthy choices, ultimately ensuring a healthy life style.

Below is a list of suggested healthy snack foods that children enjoy and that would work well for school.  It is our hope that together, at home and school, we can help children make healthy, educated choices in caring for their bodies.

almonds, animal crackers, apples, applesauce, apricots, bagels, banana, blueberries, breadsticks, cantaloupe, carrots, celery, cereals, cheese, cherries, corn muffins, crackers, cucumbers, eggs-hard boiled, fig newtons, fruits, fruit cups, graham crackers, granola bars, grapefruit, grapes, honeydew melon, jello, kiwi, lemon poppyseed muffins, melon, quiche, radishes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, string cheese, tangerines, tomatoes, tortilla chips, tuna, veggies & dip, watermelon, yogurt, zucchini bread
