2007-2008 Calendar of Events Officers Student of the Month Information Palmyra-Macedon Parent/Teacher/Student Association (PTSA) The Palmyra Macedon High School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) works on behalf of it’s members providing state and national information, influence, and recognition to help unite parents, teachers, students, and the community for the common good of all children. The Pal-Mac PTSA is affiliated with the Genesee Valley District PTA, which has a five-county membership of over 22,000, and with the New York State and National PTA organizations. Scholarships, monetary grants and special awards are offered at the local, district, state and national levels. Meetings of the Palmyra-Macedon High School Chapter of the PTSA are held in the High School Library on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. unless it is a holiday then it is held the second Monday of the month. All parents (any grade level student), teachers, students and other community residents are invited to attend and participate. New members are always welcome. There is an annual membership fee of $5. Proceeds from fundraising activities stay totally within the Palmyra-Macedon school district community to benefit the children. Annual PTSA events and spending include Student of the Month, PTSA Scholarships (National, State, and local), Meet the School Board Candidates Night, and other needs of the school district to purchase items for students. Annual PTSA fundraising activities include Chicken Barbecues, All you can eat Spaghetti Dinner, Mother’s Day Brunch, and raffles.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH The PTSA is sponsoring an award each month (September - May) for one student per grade level. Many of the students recognized in the past were not students who are generally honored. The criteria is simple. Students must show improved academics, behavior or demonstrated positive character traits. All Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students. A nomination form can be found in the high school guidance and main offices. Completed forms should be placed in the PTSA mailbox by the first of every month. PTSA executive committee will choose the student of the month and then their family will be invited to a ceremony in which the students will be honored and given awards. Awards include a certificate and other awards from local businesses and sponsors. |
